      Pressure Washers
    • Why has the pressure dropped on my pressure washer?

It's likely the lance jet needs replacing or pump seals. Check for any high pressure leaks.

    • Do I need new pump seals?

Often you can try force feeding the pump with water and look around the pump head for leaks. If its leaking new seals are needed.

    • Why does the pressure washer keep surging when the gun is released?

Probably has a high pressure leak.

    • Which Hot water pressure washer do I need?

Pressure washers produce either hot or cold water.
Cold pressure washers are ideal for removing dirt.

However, if the surface you are cleaning is mixed with oil or grease, a cold water pressure washer won't clean as well as a hot water pressure washer.

Hot water cuts through the grease and oil better than a cold pressure washer.

Decide on either 240v, 110v or 415v. A 240v machine is the most common but has a limit on performance due to the amount of load the 13-amp supply can take. As standard 12 liters a minute at 100 bar is the most effective compromise of water volume and pressure for that supply of electric.

415v 3 phase hot pressure washer will allow for a larger pressure and volume of water. Typically, 15 litres at 200 bar is a standard performance, increasing to 21 liters at 200 bar.

Below are some basic questions to ask yourself before committing to a Hot Pressure washer purchase. Choosing the wrong system is an expensive mistake to make. It's always best to talk about your requirements with an expert in the industry. Preferably call us at Flowjet Cleaning Equipment.

      • Decide on voltage needed.
      • Normally kerosene is used to heat the water.
      • Decide if kerosene can be used on site or weather you need to look at electrically heated machines.
      • Does the pressure washer need to be mobile or static?
      • Will the pressure washer be sited in or outside?
      • How many people will be using it?
      • Do you need to foam the chemical?
      • Do you need to have different lance attachments?
      • What temperature do you require?
      • How much pressure are you needing?
      • Will you be needing high pressure chemical / timed or on / off switch?
      • Does the machine need to shut its self-down if un attended?
      • Are there any service dealers that cover your area if it breaks down?
    • Why has the pump oil has gone a milky colour?

The oil has emulsified which means it has mixed with the water pump. New water seals and oil seals would fix. Also check the piston for cracks

    • Why has the burner stopped working on my Hot pressure washer?

      Answer: Some possible causes;

      • Contained fuel
      • Level switch not working in fuel tank
      • Electrodes Worn
      • Magic eye faulty
      • Not enough pump pressure
      • Pressure switch or thermostat faulty
      • Dirty Fuel filter
      • Blocked Fuel jet or faulty fuel pump
      • Fuel pump drive worn
      • Faulty 240v / 24v solenoid
    • Why does the water pressure vibrate or chatter down the hose?

It is likely that the pump valves have debris in.

    • Why does the pressure washer turn on but no water comes out?

It is possible that there is a blockage in the hose, gun or lance jet.

    • What is the clarification on Atex Standard?

INDUSTRIAL ATEX VACUUM - the following is taken from the HSE website.  You can read the full article here

If the material being collected is combustible, it will be mixed with large amounts of air within the vacuum cleaner. This will form a cloud of dust and vapours inside the machine, and all of this will then produce an explosive environment. Vacuum cleaners produce static electricity as the dust passes through the machine. Conventional vacuum cleaner motors also produce sparks from carbon brushes whilst running, so now we have the 3 main elements for producing an explosion resulting in a very serious incident.

The ATEX approval will be specific to the category of equipment and nature of the risk, 'combustible gas, vapour or dust etc', considering the particular hazardous zone.

      'Zone 21 - Zone 22 - Zone 1 - Zone 2'.

Zone 0: a place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances are in the form of gas, vapour or mist that is present continuously or for long periods.

Zone 1: a place in which an explosive atmosphere, consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.

Zone 2: a place in which an explosive atmosphere, consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of, gas, vapour or mist, is not likely to occur in normal operation, but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period of time.

Zone 20: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is present continuously, or for long periods.

Zone 21: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.

Zone 22: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is not likely to occur in normal operation, but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period of time only.
