Electrically heated pressure washer questions

Do you have an ample supply of 3 phase electricity with a neutral?
  • 415 Volt 32 Amp
  • 415 Volt 63 Amp
Max temperature of high pressure water?

The maximum temperature is 80 degrees until the boiler tank is empty. Tanks range from 80 - 150 litres. Depending on the pump flow per minute, this may only last ten minutes of continuous use

Consider how the user will operate the machine

If the user periodically stops and starts the machine by releasing the handgun, the machine will have a better chance to re-heat the tank to the pre-set / higher temperature.

When the user keeps the trigger pressed, it directly affects the machine's temperature. The pre-heated water tank gets depleted, causing the output temperature to drop as the heat exchanger struggles to maintain the pre-set temp /desired thermostat setting.

How many hours use per day will the machine be in operation?

The amount of hours gives a good idea of what machine is suitable.

Example: Nilfisk MH5 E24is rated for 5-6 hours of use per day

How many metres of pressure washer hose is required , and does it need to be non marking for food areas.

On some models of pressure washers, the  15 - 20 metre hose reel will not have enough room to fit a foam injector. Concider a wall mounted hose reel.

Pressure Washer Questions

Why has the pressure washer pump gone a milky colour?

The oil has emulsified which means it has mixed with the water pump.

  • Check the ceramic pistons for cracks and replace if you see a hair line crack.
  • Repalace water seals & oil seals
Why has the burner stopped working on my hot pressure washer?

Answer: Some possible causes

  • Contaminated fuel
  • Level level switch not working
  • Electrodes Worn
  • Magic eye faulty
  • Not enough fuel pump pressure
  • Pressure switch or thermostat faulty
  • Faulty Flow Switch
  • Dirty Fuel filter
  • Blocked Fuel jet or faulty fuel pump
  • Fuel pump drive worn
  • Faulty 240v / 24v solenoid
Why Does the high pressure hose vibrate?

It is likely that the pump valves have debris in or the inlet side of the pump is drawing in air.

Why does the pressure washer turn on but no water comes out?

It is possible that there is a blockage in the pressure washer hose, gun or lance jet. Remove the high pressure hose and turn the machine on to see if water comes out.

Air could be drawn in by either a chemical valve or loose inlet hose clip on the inlet side of the pump.

STANDARDS

What is ATEX?

INDUSTRIAL ATEX VACUUM - the following is taken from the HSE website.  You can read the full article here

If the material being collected is combustible, it will be mixed with large amounts of air within the vacuum cleaner. This will form a cloud of dust and vapours inside the machine, and all of this will then produce an explosive environment. Vacuum cleaners produce static electricity as the dust passes through the machine. Conventional vacuum cleaner motors also produce sparks from carbon brushes whilst running, so now we have the 3 main elements for producing an explosion resulting in a very serious incident.

The ATEX approval will be specific to the category of equipment and nature of the risk, 'combustible gas, vapour or dust etc', considering the particular hazardous zone.

'Zone 21 - Zone 22 - Zone 1 - Zone 2'.

ZONE CLASSIFICATION FOR GASES-VAPOURS & MIST.

Zone 0: a place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances are in the form of gas, vapour or mist that is present continuously or for long periods.

Zone 1: a place in which an explosive atmosphere, consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.

Zone 2: a place in which an explosive atmosphere, consisting of a mixture with air of dangerous substances in the form of, gas, vapour or mist, is not likely to occur in normal operation, but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period of time.

ZONE CLASSIFICATIONS FOR DUSTS:

Zone 20: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is present continuously, or for long periods.

Zone 21: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is likely to occur in normal operation, occasionally.

Zone 22: a place in which an explosive atmosphere in the form of a cloud of combustible dust in air is not likely to occur in normal operation, but, if it does occur, will persist for a short period of time only.
